From the dunes and marshes of the coast to the tree covered hills and hollows of the mountains, North Carolina has got to be one of God's greatest works.  I never cease to be amazed at the beauty that surrounds me when I get on the highway or when I get off of it.  Even the cities are beautiful.  Sometimes I feel as if I live in a landscape painting.

 NORTH CAROLINA  is not only a wonderful place to live; but a great state for doing business.  Some incentives are offered to incoming businesses.  They are not as great as the incentives offered in some states; but North Carolina is a great enough place that we don't have to pay people to come here.

Although North Carolina is a beautiful place, our population  of almost 9 million people are what makes it really great. North Carolinians have an excellent work ethic, and a good skills base. Our worker's compensation cost is one of the lowest in the nation. This is because NC workers are careful. We have the lowest number of days lost to injury in the Southeast. Being careful means more than not having accidents. It means high quality and high productivity.

Transportation facilities are excellent.  We have over 3600 miles of railroad, three major airports, two major seaports, and more thn 78,000 miles of highway.  We are crisscrossed by seven interstates.
